Why You Tried AI Once and Quit (And the 3 Fixes That Change Everything)
This week two of the biggest AI companies in the world launched new models within 90 minutes of each other. Anthropic released Claude Opus 5.5, OpenAI answered with GPT-6 Sol and Luna, and the internet spent days arguing about who won.
Here is what nobody in that argument was talking about. Most people are not stuck because they picked the wrong model. They are stuck because they never got a real starting point.
Maybe this sounds familiar. You kept hearing everyone talk about AI, so you finally opened ChatGPT or Claude, typed in something like "write me a social media post," and got back something so generic it could have been written for anyone, anywhere, selling anything. You thought, well, that's not me, and went right back to doing it yourself. I hear this story all the time, and I lived it too! I remember opening these tools for the first time and just staring at the screen. No idea what to type. No idea what it even wanted from me.
That experience does not mean AI does not work for you. It means you started at the wrong end. Here are the three fixes I teach every business owner who has tried AI and walked away.
FIX 1: START WITH THE PROBLEM, NOT THE TOOL
Most people do AI backwards. They open a chat window first and then try to figure out what to do with it. The better question comes before you touch any tool: where does my business actually get stuck?
Maybe it is the follow up emails that never get sent, the proposals that take three hours to write, or the social posts you keep putting off until Sunday night. Pick one. Then take an honest look at how that task gets done today, because if the process is already broken, AI will not fix it. It just helps it break faster. Clean up the steps first, then decide where AI belongs.

FIX 2: GIVE AI THE CONTEXT A NEW EMPLOYEE WOULD NEED
Think about it this way. If you hired someone new, said "write me a post" on their first day, and walked away, you would get a generic post! They don't know your business, your customers, your voice, or what you are trying to accomplish, and AI doesn't either until you tell it.
This is exactly why I built the SURF AI Method, a simple way to structure what you ask so AI has everything it needs to do the job well. Tell it who you are, who you serve, what the task is, and what a great result looks like. The difference between a vague request and a well framed one is the difference between "meh" and "wait, that actually sounds like me."
FIX 3: GET ONE THING WORKING BEFORE YOU CHASE THE NEXT THING
Every week there will be a shinier tool, a bigger launch, and someone online telling you that you are already behind. Ignore most of it. What actually changes your business is getting one real task working reliably, checking the result every time until you trust it, and understanding why it worked so you can repeat it.
Once one workflow is solid, the second one comes faster, and the third comes faster than that. That is how people go from "I tried it once" to AI being part of how their business runs every single day.
THE GOOD NEWS IN ALL OF THIS
The tools are getting smarter and more affordable at the same time, which almost never happens with technology. If you already pay for an AI tool, the model behind it just got better at the same price, without you changing a thing. The floor keeps rising!
The gap between what AI can do and what most business owners are actually getting out of it is still huge, though, and new model releases will not close it. What closes it is having someone sit down with you, show you how to frame a task properly, and help you see a real result inside your own business.

READY TO STOP GUESSING? JOIN THE AI ORCHESTRATOR
Chatting with AI is not learning AI, and it is definitely not building AI into your business. That is exactly why I built The AI Orchestrator, a four week live implementation cohort where we start from scratch and build it the right way. First we find the real problems in how you work, then we decide where AI actually belongs, and then we build it together, live, inside your own business.
Here is how the four weeks unfold:
Week 1: We set up your AI workspace with custom instructions and projects so it knows who you are and how you work
Week 2: You learn my prompting framework and train AI on your brand voice
Week 3: We build working skills live, with real outputs you can use the very next day
Week 4: We connect everything into multi step workflows, and you show off what you built
The details:
Four live 90 minute sessions on Tuesdays, October 6, 13, 20, and 27, from 1:00 to 2:30 PM Eastern
Full recordings of every session
A private one on one session with me
30 days in the Surfside AI Collective, a $97 value
Founding cohort price of $497, going to $997 for future cohorts
Only 40 seats, and enrollment closes Monday, October 5 at noon Eastern
You will need a paid Claude Pro account and the Claude Desktop app. I will send you a setup checklist before our first session so you walk in ready to build.
You do not need to know anything about AI to join. You just need to be done guessing.
